Frequently Asked Questions

Southern Vehicle isn’t a dealership — it’s a platform that connects Northern buyers with Southern sellers, so buyers can get more rust-free vehicles and better pricing on new vehicles than they’d typically find close to home.

Vehicles from Southern states typically have less exposure to road salt, which is a major contributor to rust and frame corrosion in Northern climates. As a result, a Southern vehicle may have less corrosion than a comparable vehicle that has spent its winters in the North. Southern Vehicle connects Northern buyers with Southern dealers and private sellers, helping buyers find vehicles with lower salt exposure. Trust in no rust.

Southern Vehicle is built on relationships — we connect buyers with Southern dealers and private sellers. Once you find a vehicle you’re interested in, you work directly with the seller to ask questions, arrange the purchase, and coordinate shipping or pickup. If you have questions about using Southern Vehicle, we’re here to help. Customer service isn’t an afterthought for us — it’s a core part of how we do business.

Shipping or pickup is arranged directly between you and the seller. Southern Vehicle does not transport vehicles, but our Vehicle Shipping page can help you explore transportation options. You can also choose your own transporter or arrange to pick up the vehicle yourself.

Shipping costs vary based on distance, vehicle size and type, pickup and delivery locations, and the carrier you choose. Southern Vehicle does not set transportation rates, so we recommend getting a written quote directly from the carrier before arranging shipment. That way, you know the cost upfront before the vehicle is transported.

Southern Vehicle takes trust seriously, but buyers should always do their own research before purchasing a vehicle. We recommend reviewing the seller’s reputation, asking for a vehicle history report, requesting additional photos or video, and speaking directly with the seller about the vehicle. Buyers should also consider having a qualified, independent third-party mechanic or reputable vehicle inspection service inspect the vehicle before purchase. Never send money until you have verified the seller, the vehicle, and the terms of the transaction. If you have questions about using Southern Vehicle, our friendly team is here to help.

Both. Southern Vehicle features used and new vehicles from Southern dealers and private sellers. The lower-salt-exposure advantage isn’t limited to used vehicles. Even new vehicles at Northern dealerships may be test-driven or moved on salt-treated roads during the winter and then remain on dealership lots for an extended period before being sold. Shopping Southern inventory gives buyers another option when looking for vehicles that may have had less exposure to road salt, whether they’re buying new or used. If you have questions along the way, our friendly customer service team is here to help.

Yes — Southern Vehicle is built for Southern sellers as well as buyers. Dealers and private sellers can list qualifying vehicles on the platform and connect directly with interested buyers. Sellers manage their vehicle information and communicate directly with potential buyers, while Southern Vehicle provides the marketplace and customer support for questions about using the platform.

It’s completely free for buyers to browse, search, and use Southern Vehicle. Dealers receive their first month free, followed by $19.99 per month for unlimited listings. Private sellers can list a vehicle for $5 per month until the listing is canceled.

Any buyer, anywhere in the United States, can shop Southern Vehicle. Listings are currently accepted from sellers in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida. These states were selected because vehicles there generally have less exposure to the heavy road-salt conditions common in Northern winters.

Getting started is simple. Buyers can browse listings at no cost and contact sellers directly about vehicles they’re interested in. Dealers and private sellers can create an account, choose the appropriate seller option, and list qualifying vehicles on Southern Vehicle. If you have questions about using the platform, our friendly team is here to help.

Southern Vehicle is a marketplace that connects buyers directly with independent dealers and private sellers, so issues with a vehicle after the sale should be addressed directly with the seller. We encourage buyers to ask questions, review the vehicle’s history and condition, understand any applicable warranty, and consider an independent pre-purchase inspection before completing the transaction. If you have questions about using Southern Vehicle or need help communicating through the platform, our friendly customer service team is here to help.
